This year I will be using the NGSS to develop my curriculum. To read the standards you can go to the below links for each grade.
I am starting the whole school on engineering a rollercoaster that will deliver a marble successfully through and can jump into a cup that is five or more inches away. Each grade will be using various materials such as paper towel and toilet paper rolls, paper plates, and roller coaster templates I have found on the internet.
Each lesson will be developed with the 5E model in mind. The 5E's are Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. This model of teaching starts with a phenomenon that gets the students thinking of questions that they want to explore to gain a better understanding of the Science Standards.
